London-based footwear designer Marion Ayonote will launch MA by Marion Ayonote in the U.S. for spring ’14. Ayonote said the collection was inspired by a recent trip to Jerusalem and features architectural lines and metallics. “I created MA by Marion Ayonote after receiving letters from people who love Marion Ayonote Couture and wanted something more accessible,” she said. Starting in February, the shoes will be available at select boutiques and online, retailing for $250 to $350.
Orca Design launched with two styles at the Surf Show in Orlando last week. The new brand’s Classic and Boat Shoe styles blend eco-friendly materials with a woven design and are aimed at the resort, cruise and athletic retail markets. The shoes, available for spring ’14, are machine-washable, anti-slip and bacteria-resistant, and are unisex sized. The line is expected to retail for $50 to $65 and will deliver in March.
Davis Goes Digital
Ruthie Davis started the new year by launching her brand’s first e-commerce site. In addition to online shopping, the designer’s customers can also access “white glove service,” same-day delivery in New York, as well as a real-time feed from the label’s social media pages. “I wanted our Web shopper to get a real sense of interacting with me as the designer,” Davis said. “I can promise lots of instant gratification. I’m all about seeing a shoe, falling in love with it, then having it on instantly. That’s what we’re striving for — fulfilling that ‘gotta have it’ shoe obsession.”
