Brazilian brand Ballasox targets brides and their entourages with its newest line of foldable flats. The debut style from the label’s bridal collection features an ivory upper, available in two finishes, and a blue inner lining. Retailing at $60, the product is set to hit stores in fall ’14, with a full offering to follow. “We plan on expanding this collection with several styles including lace, rhinestones, pearls and bows,” said Max Harrell, president of the Ballasox and CC Corso Como brands.
Emerging designer Shereen Daver will open her first pop-up shop, called Walk, to coincide with New York Fashion Week and FFANY. Slated to run Feb. 4-9 at 215 Bowery in New York, the store will stock spring ’14 and take pre-orders for fall ’14 Daver styles, priced from $375 to $575. The designer, whose year-old label currently sells through her e-commerce site, is looking to attract retail buyers as well as the public with the temporary brick-and-mortar location. “It has an edgy urban feel with a parlor-type seating,” she said. “[It is] graphic and bold.”
With the much-anticipated “Transformers: Age of Extinction” movie slated to hit theaters this June, Stride Rite is rolling out a series of kids’ shoes inspired by the film. Favorite characters Optimus Prime and Bumblebee are brought to life on the colorful sneakers, which feature a special Velcro strap design that allows them to be transformed into their vehicle alter ego. Offered in baby, toddler and youth sizes, the Transformers line will retail for $56.
Dansko is showing its rugged side for fall with Boulder, a collection of outdoor lifestyle looks for women. The four-pattern series includes a slip-on (above), laceup, bootie and mid-calf boot, all packed with performance technology such as slip-resistant Vibram outsoles, DuPont Sorona fiber moisture management system and Cleansport NXT odor control. Comfort is enhanced through removable shock-absorbent triple-density EVA footbeds. Retailing from $155 to $240, the line will deliver in July.
