Butter Targets Comfort Market

Women’s fashion brand Butter will expand this fall into the comfort market. The New York-based label will launch companion collection Butter Comfort.

The line of upscale looks, featuring sachetto constructions and cushioned footbeds, will mirror Butter’s feminine silhouettes, with pumps and slingbacks on 1 1/2- to 3-inch heels.  However, noted Nancy Geist, designer and co-owner of parent company Molli Enterprises, the heels on the comfort line will be bolder and toe boxes more generous.

“We do a lot of pointy toes and kitten heels in Butter, [but] we felt there were people who struggled with these looks,” said partner Lee Riech-Kauffman. “There are women with bunions and foot problems.”

Like the original Butter line, the new collection will be targeted to better specialty stores, as well as fashion-comfort independents. Retailing from $300 to $375, the Italian-made line will deliver in July.
