Bebe has inked a new deal.
The Brisbane, Calif.-based label announced exclusively to Footwear News that it has entered into a licensing agreement with ZigiNY.
As part of the deal, Zigi will produce the shoes for the Bebe, 2b and Bebe Sports brands. The revamped looks, which will retail for $59 and $350, will debut next week at FFANY.
“Zigi and Bebe share the same DNA because both brands cater to the confident, sexy and modern girl,” said Bebe CEO Steve Birkhold. “We also had been working with Zigi for a period of time as a supplier, and they were able to accomplish our design aesthetic and [understand our] need for trend-driven product in a timely manner.”
In the past, Bebe has worked with other production partners such as Titan Industries and Aldo Group. Birkhold said he anticipates a more personalized relationship with Zigi.
“Bebe is Zigi’s only license partner and is able to provide the best talent and design for the brand,” he said. “With other partners, we were often challenged with redesigns of best-sellers from their core brand or were often an afterthought with other labels within their portfolio. Zigi will be dedicating an exclusive New York showroom to Bebe.”
Added Zigi President Andy Petersen, “Our speed-to-market with high-fashion shoes, including pumps, sandals, boots and sports shoes, ensures the Bebe customer will have the latest looks in a variety of styles.”
The footwear will be available for wholesale and is slated to hit shelves in July.
Overall, Birkhold noted, the agreement should help expand and enhance Bebe’s footwear division. “By partnering with Zigi we hope to bring more fashion-forward shoes to our brand — something our girl covets — as well as take our wholesale footwear business to the next level,” he said.
