Kenji Haroutunian, longtime director of Outdoor Retailer, will step down from the trade show at the end of this month. He is to be replaced by Marissa Nicholson.
Haroutunian has been with the organization for 15 years, leading it through a period of rapid growth and transition, including OR’s sale in 2013 to Toronto-based private equity group Onex Corp.
“With the OR team poised for future greatness, the time is right for me to move on,” Haroutunian said in a statement. While he did not give specifics about his future plans, Haroutunian added, “I’m excited to move into my next role, in service to the industry I am so passionate about.”
Nicholson has been at OR for 11 years, most recently as group sales director of the Sports Group. In her new role she will be tasked with continuing to grow the winter and summer events. In particular, OR aims to focus on the backcountry category for Winter Market, and develop the paddle, camping, hiking and climbing segments for Summer Market.
