Tamara Taichman’s Good Taste

She’s a master at the balancing act. “Each position is essential to me and complements the other,” said fashion editor and stylist Tamara Taichman, who also founded luxe accessories line Tila March. “I am constantly meeting new people and becoming inspired from many angles.” The French designer, whose husband’s position at Louis Vuitton prompted her to create a handbag line in 2006, added footwear to the mix in 2009. “Shoes came naturally to me — aside from having countless pairs, I believe the connection between a woman and her shoes is very strong [because it is more about personal style than heavy branding],” she said. Taichman has set up shop in Paris with two trendy locations in Saint Germain and Le Marais, and the line has found a footing in wholesale, retailing at Barneys and Jeffrey in New York; Ikram in Chicago; Harrods in London; Le Bon Marché and Colette in Paris; and Isetan in Japan. “Fashion is about reinventing oneself all the time,” said Taichman, “and that’s exactly what I strive to do.” Here, the fashion insider reveals her secrets to a stylish life.
