Molly Sims’ Good Taste

2013 has been a big year for Molly Sims. In addition to celebrating her son Brooks’ first birthday, she also signed a licensing deal with Thyme Maternity, where she will serve as creative director of Molly Sims for Stork & Babe. The model also has been promoting an array of brands, from Crocs to Airbnb.com. Most recently, Sims collaborated with Milk & Honey to create a sleek pump, which, as part of the Generous Soles program, will benefit Baby2Baby. “Baby2Baby helps thousands of children a year by providing families in need with essential baby gear and items such as diapers and clothing,” Sims said. Milk & Honey CEO Dorian Howard noted that Sims’ sense of style made her a good match for the brand. “We love the shoe she designed because she took a classic pump and paired it with a fun texture,” Howard added. “[It] shows us that basic shoes never need to be boring.” The black snake-textured heel is priced at $279 and available on Milk & Honey’s website. Here, Sims also shares her No. 1 new-mom tip, swimwear strategy and next big project.

Bikini vs. one-piece:
“I love a bikini. I love that I can mix and match the tops and bottoms. To me, a bikini is just the quintessential summer look.”

At the beach, swimming or lounging:
“Just relaxing at the beach is one of my favorite things. And especially now that I have Brooks, I cherish my time to lounge a little bit.”

The best thing about summer changing to fall:
“You get to change up your wardrobe. I love to wear layers, and some of my favorite accessories would have to be hats and scarves.”
My current designer obsession:
“I love this new brand called Ivory Row. It has gorgeous, affordable cashmere. I’m also obsessed with all things Céline.”
Worst fashion faux pas I’ve observed:
“It might have to be when I see matching hair color to an outfit. Like hot-pink hair with a hot-pink outfit.”
Most prized possession:
“My wedding ring, because Scott and I have been married two years [as of September].”

Work in progress:
“I’m writing a book for Harper Collins. It’s all the tips and tricks I’ve learned throughout my career. I talk about everything from beauty and fashion to health and fitness.”

Best advice for new parents:
“Trust your instincts. Do the very best you can and try not to feel guilty.”
