FN SPY: New York Fashion Week

Power Couple
The Weitzmans are certainly a dynamic duo. Before heading to Milan next week to fete his sleek new flagship, Stuart Weitzman spent the last few days in New York — in part to host an event at his Madison Avenue store with his wife, Jane Weitzman, celebrating the launch of her book: “Art & Sole.” (He also made time to catch the men’s finals at the U.S. Open.) The tome features a variety of high-profile shoes highlighted in Stuart Weitzman’s store window over the years. Jane Weitzman is now prepping for a book tour across 30 cities, including Sewickley, Pa., which is up first. “We’re doing a charity event at a local book store for children’s health,” she said. “I’m meeting some wonderful people. The [book release] has been so exciting.” Meanwhile, her husband will unveil his new flagship, designed by famed architect Zaha Hadid, in Milan next Thursday evening. The 2,500-square-foot bi-level flagship, decked out in rose-gold hues, will be located on Milan’s Via Sant’Andrea. Kate Moss, who stars in the brand’s current ad campaign, will attend the opening event. “She seems to think I’m a nice guy and normal,” quipped Weitzman.

Next Up
Super Bowl champion and now “Style Award” winner, Victor Cruz is on a roll.  “It’s about time,” the New York giant star joked about the “Most Stylish Athlete of the Year” award he won during New York Fashion Week. “It’s something to cross off my bucket list.” And now Cruz has his sights on the upcoming NFL season. When asked who he was most looking forward to playing this year, Cruz told Spy: “Everybody.”

Runway Rounds
There were plenty of familiar faces at Rebecca Taylor’s show on Saturday, including Olivia Palermo, Zosia Mamet of “Girls” and television personality Nigel Barker. “It’s crazy. I have four shows today and five tomorrow, and then Tuesday is the Pamela Roland show, where I’m a creative consultant. It’s a good week but always crazy,” Barker told Spy backstage. “I’m a big fan of the Rebecca Taylor collection. It’s feminine, always on trend, and just wearable.”

Best Foot Forward
TV personality Giuliana Rancic was all about the heels during Fashion Week. “I wouldn’t be caught dead going to shows in flats,” the E! host told Spy during an HSN preview this week. But only few designers have mastered the art of height and comfort, according to Rancic. “I’m wearing Gianvito Rossi today,” she said on Monday. “They’re super comfortable, unlike most of my other shoes.” Rancic, who was in New York to report on the best and worst dressed for next week’s episode of E!’s “Fashion Police,” said she hasn’t seen anything horrible on the runways. But she does have a few favorites. “Herve Leger stood out to me. They do great stuff with those bandage dresses,” she said. “I loved the whole tribal thing at DVF. With the Emmys coming up, I’m definitely on the lookout for an outfit.”

Break Dance
For those who needed a break during New York Fashin Week, Zappos.com provided just that at their Zappos Recharge activation, hosted over the weekend and featuring a charging station, free massages, juices and giveaways such as clothing, handbags and gift cards. And some big names popped by too, including Betsey Johnson and Man Repeller’s Leandra Medine.

Store Shots
Barney’s wants to find the perfect pair of shoes. The retailer created an in-store installation during Fashion Week, asking guests to snap pictures of their shoes and Instagram them, using hashtag #perfectpairs.
