Chloe Jade Green’s Good Taste

A year after bowing her Topshop-exclusive label in the U.K., Chloe Jade Green is bringing CJG to the U.S.

The women’s footwear and accessories line will hit New York and Los Angeles Topshop stores at the end of May. The spring ’13 shoe offerings include platforms, stilettos, flat sandals and fashion sneakers in metallic and snake textures, retailing from $147 to $402.

Green, the daughter of Sir Philip Green, CEO of Topshop parent Arcadia Group, said heading up her own brand has been educational. “It’s learning [about] customers, what they like and don’t like and [their desired] heel heights,” she noted. “Seeing what’s out there gives you that point of difference in the industry.”

The budding designer talked with Footwear News about scary movies, childhood dreams and her obsession with Alexander McQueen clutches.

My personal style in three words:
“Edgy, girly, effortless.”

I collect …
“Other than shoes, bags — I’m a big fan of the Alexander McQueen clutches. I’ve collected them over the years, and I probably have about 30. The first one I ever had was the Union Jack. They are so beautiful, and after he sadly passed away, they were everywhere you went. It’s a very nice thing that you can find in different places.”

Favorite film:
“‘Pretty Woman.’ It’s an easy watch, and I love Julia Roberts.”

Hardest movie genre to watch:
“I like scary films, but I don’t like to [watch them] alone.”

Weirdest thing I’ve ever eaten:
“Maggots, on camera actually, for a TV show. It was pretty horrible.”

Prized possession:
“My flat, because it’s mine. I’ve had it for two years.”

When I was 5 years old, I wanted to be …
“Something medical. I was always that kid at school with the plaster if someone got hurt, and I’d watch [medical programs] on A&E. Then I got older, and I can’t even look at blood.”
