Paris Shoe of the Day: Louis Vuitton

Marc Jacobs has had a long run as creative director for Louis Vuitton (nearly two decades) and confirmed his departure from the storied fashion house earlier today. In his final, 41-look collection, the designer paid tribute to the women who inspired him each season, listing Coco Chanel, Kate Moss, Anna Wintour and Diana Vreeland among his muses. In an effort to bring out “the showgirl in all of us,” as Jacobs said in his show notes, his largely black designs were elevated by over-the-top embellishments, feathered headpieces and on-trend flat shoes punctuated with ornate buckles. While the dark lamb rug made it difficult to see the detail at times, Jacobs said it best when he noted, “It is not about thinking; it is about feeling.” And experiencing one of fashion’s most memorable moments is a great feeling indeed.
