Paris Shoe of the Day: Dries Van Noten

Paris Fashion Week is off and running, and Dries Van Noten has already proven why the City of Light is also one of fashion might. While Van Noten is not known for glitz and glamour, he looked to ice skating costumes for inspiration for fall ’13. Luckily this reference did not translate into the footwear (as it did on DSquared2’s much-photographed shoe-skate), but it did mean charming, yet mostly understated, feathering and crystal details on a strong collection of separates. The designer kept it simple for the footwear, grounding most looks in minimalist sandals and patent lace-ups. The standout shoe, though, was this perfed metallic ankle-strap bootie set on a chunky heel — a must-have silhouette this season.
