Milan Shoe of the Day: Gucci

Gucci’s Frida Giannini depicted a strong woman this season decidedly liberal in sheer peek-a-boo silhouettes full of color and plunging necklines. Taking a page from the 20th-century French artist Romain de Tirtoff, known simply as Erté, Giannini used his illustrations as inspiration for the enlivened looks she sent down the runway. Unlike the more conservative choices we’ve seen in past seasons, the black bootie was arguably a reflection of the risqué clothes with elastic slits running along its front and a cone-style heel.
