1973: Sam Hassan bows The Tannery in Cambridge, Mass.
1975: A second store opens in Boston.
Early 1980s: Tarek and Talal Hassan join the company.
1992: Footwear News names The Tannery as Independent Retailer of the Year.
1996: Concepts debuts inside The Tannery as a store-within-a-store.
The retailer produces its first collaboration with Clarks Originals x Concepts.
2001: The company’s e-commerce site launches.
2003: FN names The Tannery as Independent Retailer of the Year for the second time.
2008: A standalone Concepts store bows at 37 Brattle St.
The new Tannery shop opens at 39 Brattle St.
The Hassans create a retail space dubbed Curated by The Tannery.
The Nike x Concepts “Red Lobster” collaboration proves to be a huge success, selling out 1,400 pairs in three hours.
