Sneak Peek at Reebok’s City Classics

Reebok has unveiled its soon-to-be-released updates on the Classic Leather — with each dedicated to one of 12 international cities.

To mark the style’s 30th anniversary, the Canton, Mass.-based brand asked New York graffiti artist Stash to curate a collection designed by 12 of his peers. Their task? To create versions of the Classic Leather look that celebrate their hometowns. The resulting City Classics collection pays homage to key Reebok markets, with three additional colorways designed by Stash.

According to Stash, putting the group together involved using his connections in the community.

“Some of them I knew, some of them are friends of friends — it was six degrees of separation with every artist,” he said. “And a good friend of mine, who’s the artist for New York, Wane, was a very big catalyst.”

The goal, he explained, was to embody each metropolis.

“I really do like all the stories behind everybody’s [shoe],” Stash said. “Everybody is representing a city, so every city has a story, and every story has a picture to go with it.”
