Skechers USA Inc. is running to Houston.
The brand announced a multiyear partnership Wednesday for Skechers Performance Division to be the official footwear and apparel sponsor of the Chevron Houston Marathon.
The annual Marathon Expo and additional race events will feature exclusive Skechers product showcasing the Houston Marathon logo. Finishers’ shirts and volunteer outfits also will be branded.
“This partnership further solidifies our position as a major player in the performance footwear business,” Michael Greenberg, president of Skechers, said in a statement. “The exposure created via this sponsorship is a huge opportunity to engage with runners as we continue to develop the next generation of performance products on our Skechers GoRun platform.”
Skechers athlete and Olympic runner Meb Keflezighi recently led a three-mile fun run in Houston to fete lottery registration opening for the 2014 race. Keflezighi also achieved a personal record at the Olympic Marathon Trials in Houston last year.
“I ran the race wearing Skechers performance shoes, so it’s perfect that this great footwear company has now partnered with a key city in my career,” the athlete said in a statement.
