Puma is severing ties with former New England Patriot Aaron Hernandez in the wake of his arrest on suspicion of murder.
“Puma has ended the relationship with athlete Aaron Hernandez in light of the current situation,” the athletic company said in a statement on Thursday.
Hernandez signed a two-year deal with Puma in April to be the face of the brand’s training category.
On June 26, Hernandez was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and five gun-related charges following the June 16 shooting death of semi-pro football player and acquaintance Odin Lloyd. Hernandez was released from his contract with the Patriots less than two hours later.
