Project has a new initiative in the works this summer.
A new male-focused area called Project Sole NYC will showcase men’s footwear brands in a specially designated area covering 4,300 square feet. Project runs July 21-23 at New York’s Pier 94.
Among the labels slated to participate are Bed Stu, Cole Haan, Donald J Pliner, K-Swiss, Nautica, Tretorn, Palladium, Wolverine and United Nude.
Leslie Gallin, VP of footwear at Project parent company Advanstar, told Footwear News that the men’s category is heating up, thanks to an increasingly style-savvy customer base. “Men are shopping and are fashion astute,” she said. “They are looking for [the same] selection and quality that women have always received.”
Project President Tommy Fazio said in a statement that the addition of the men’s-focused footwear exhibition was also a reaction to buyers’ changing schedules and strategies.
“Retailers shop differently today than they have in the past,” he added, “so our goal is to provide them with a simplified yet elevated shopping experience that allows for interaction and discovery.”
