It’s time to unplug with Sports Authority. The retailer launched its national holiday campaign this week. It features a number of TV spots with the tagline “There’s nothing like the gift of sport” and encourages consumers to get out and play. “We are confident our new campaign will illustrate the enduring moments that the gift of sport offers and get our customers excited to shop at Sports Authority locations and online for their holiday gifts this year,” Chief Marketing Officer Paul Okimoto said in a statement. The company also unveiled a $500,000 sweepstakes, where customers can enter for chances to win prizes, gift cards and shopping sprees through Dec. 25.
Nonprofit organization Dress for Success, which provides professional attire to disadvantaged women, will host Giving Shoes Day on Dec. 3. Consumers can donate their footwear to 50 affiliates across the U.S. The top 10 donors will receive a limited edition of the Palace heels from Fergie Footwear, owned by Brown Shoe Co. “My dream has been to design one-of-kind, limited-edition shoes for the holidays, and this year we finally made it happen,” Fergie said in a statement. “Because this is such a special design, I thought it only appropriate to share them as a gift with inspiring women across the country.”
Cole Haan is in the holiday spirit. The brand launched The Talented & Gifted campaign this month, which stars a variety of hip personalities. Dancer Celia Rowlson-Hall, Broadway actor Gregory Haney, blogger Tavi Gevinson and heavy metal band Unlocking the Truth all have a presence in the ads.
