Leather-goods maker Will is adding footwear to its mix for spring ’14 with a single huarache style for men and women. The Eugene, Ore.-based company will produce the shoes in Mexico from vegetable-tanned leathers. For enhanced comfort, the line features leather insoles and soft crepe outsoles. The shoes, available in a wide range of colors, will retail from $145 to $195 and deliver to wholesale accounts in February. A companion collection of work-inspired boots will be added for fall ’14.
Jay Adoni and Wayne Finkelstein have teamed up to launch L’Amour des Pieds, a line of fashion comfort shoes, for spring ’14. The venture, a division of New York-based Adoni Group, is aimed at young, fashionable consumers, said CEO Jay Adoni, and includes casuals, high heels, ballet flats, boots and sandals. Designed by Finkelstein, the collection approaches comfort with a patent-pending construction that incorporates an adjustable arch support. All shoes feature soft, naked sheepskin linings and cushioned footbeds. Outsoles range from flexible latex and plantation crepe to lightweight leather soles with shock-absorbing pods. Retailing from $180 to $240, with boots up to $400, the line delivers in February to department and specialty stores and independents.
Time to Shine
Matt Bernson collaborated with Grace Atwood, creator of the fashion blog Stripes & Sequins, for a capsule collection of women’s flats for holiday ’13 and spring ’14. The three styles, available in multiple colorways, include cap toes adorned with glitter and sequins. Retailing at $165 to $169, the looks are slated to hit Anthropologie in December, Matt Bernson’s Manhattan boutique and e-commerce site in February, and Shopbop.com in March. Bernson and Atwood have been pals since the blogger professed her love for the brand on Twitter several seasons ago. Bernson noted that the end result was a look that combines fun with simplicity and sophistication. “[Grace] and I had been in contact for years [about a collaboration],” he added. “We finally made it happen and, designwise, the sparkles flew.”
Soludos is adding to its mix. The emerging New York-based men’s and women’s brand will bow handbags and small leather goods for pre-fall ’14. The pouches, wristlets, clutches, beach bags and totes in multiple prints and colors will retail for $25 to $100. “So many of our customers love the unique patterns and prints we use on our espadrilles. It seems like a true natural design extension for us,” said Soludos founder Nick Brown. Another no-brainer partnership? A footwear project with swimwear label We Are Handsome (at right) launched this month and will continue into pre-fall ’14. The first two styles, featuring exclusive prints, retail for $65 and $78.
