Bokos Debuts in Sandal Market

Matt and James McManus have put a new spin on slip-on footwear with the spring ’13 launch of Bokos.

Active outdoorsmen and frequent travelers based in Minnesota, the brothers drew from those experiences to create the multipurpose sandal brand. Their aim was to develop a simple style for everyday activities for both men and women.

Bokos rubber sandals are anti-slip and anti-odor and retail for $16. They come in a variety of colorways, with new options and styles slated to roll out in 2014.

The label already has been picked up by retailers in the Midwest, including Burghardt Sporting Goods in Brookfield and Fox Point, Wis.; and Stark’s Sport Shop in Prairie du Chien, Wis.

“Over the summer, we are hoping to expand our retail presence both around the Midwest and the country,” said Matt McManus, adding that the company is targeting surf shops, gift shops, resorts and outdoor stores.

The McManus brothers plan to take Bokos to Surf Expo in September.
