Wolford is hitting the road, and the Bregenz, Austria-based hosiery label is taking along the newest addition to its U.S. team: fit and style expert Jenny Altman.
The stylist, fashion blogger and former Barenecessities.com style director, who joined Wolford in July, is tasked with introducing a new generation of consumers to the Wolford brand, and she will make stops in Los Angeles and Dallas this month to teach shoppers about all things tights and shapewear.
Footwear News caught up with Altman before she set off, and the New York-based stylist discussed upcoming hosiery trends, the next generation of customers and how to properly pair shoes and tights.
1. What are some big hosiery trends on the horizon for spring ’14?
JA: Reptile-inspired fishnets, jewel and stud embellishments, colorful front seams, as well as creative variations on the polka dot.
2. Do you see the popularity of tights and hosiery continuing over the next several seasons?
JA: Yes, absolutely. They have become staple garments to be worn throughout the year, not just during fall and winter. Socks, light sheers, fishnets, lace prints — all these styles can be worn year-round, allowing hosiery to [become] the perfect fashion accessory.
3. Any style tips on pairing hosiery with footwear?
JA: Always match your hosiery to your shoes for a longer leg.
