Tina Aldatz’s Good Taste

Already an expert in footcare products, Foot Petals founder Tina Aldatz is bringing her know-how to the slipper market with the fall launch of a luxe line featuring her signature technologies. “I love slippers; I have six pairs,” said Aldatz, whose affinity dates back to childhood, when she suffered a burn injury to her foot. Lingering pain means she never goes barefoot. Her debut line includes two cashmere styles: a ballerina with Foot Petals’ Killer Kushionz and Heavenly Heelz products, and a wedge incorporating Tip Toes ball-of-foot cushions. The two looks retail for $90 and will deliver in September to retailers including Nordstrom, Dillard’s, Von Maur and Beauty.com. Foot Petals first ventured into slippers several years ago, though only briefly. This time, however, the brand has the support of new parent company R.G. Barry Corp., known for its iconic Dearfoams brand. “I went back to redesign the concept,” said Aldatz, who also is searching for a licensing partner for footwear. “I want to do a collection, not an item.”

Latest impulse buy: “Sheex — high-performance sheets. They’re moisture-wicking, temperature-controlled and breathable. I bought them the day they came out.”

Favorite takeout food:
“A chain called Daphne’s Greek for chicken kebabs. I’m into a high-protein diet.”

I’d like to win a shopping spree at … “
Intermix. It takes the thinking out of buying. I have a personal shopper there who keeps me up-to-date.”

Chick flick I’ve seen the most: “Without a doubt, ‘Urban Cowboy.’ I was a major John Travolta fan.”

Number of lottery tickets I buy each month:
“Six scratch-offs. However, I have to scratch them with a quarter.”

Best room service: “The St. Regis in New York. I’m a big breakfast person. I like the bagels, lox and cream cheese. You even get a butler with it.”
