Standout Shoes at the Grammys

It was a night of stars at the 54th Annual Grammy Awards Sunday night, both on the red carpet and off, as musicians turned out in full force to honor their industry’s best, wearing shoes that stole the spotlight.

The stunner of the evening was undoubtedly Rihanna, who was nominated in four categories and was tantalizingly wrapped in a black silk custom Giorgio Armani gown — replete with dare-to-bare neckline and thigh slit — that she said she co-designed. Her footwear of choice: a ladylike but vertiginous pair of single-sole pumps by Christian Louboutin.

Adele, the big winner of the night, wowed the crowd in a black sparkly number by Armani Prive, offset by silver sparkly pumps by Christian Louboutin. The British songstress picked up six awards, including Album of the Year and Record of the Year, and performed her hit song “Rolling in the Deep” to a standing ovation.

Country music darling Taylor Swift, who picked up two awards — Best Country Song and Best Country Solo Performance — was elegant in a nude silk mermaid gown by Zuhair Murad and platform sandals by Prada.

Meanwhile, Corinne Bailey Rae, who won the award for Best R&B Performance, kept it short and sweet in a Christian Siriano frock paired with punk-rock pumps by the same designer.

And Kate Beckinsale, the British star of “Underworld: Awakening,” hiked up her hemline even farther in a short cream-and-black number by Zuhair Murad that showed off her gams, which were accented by Ferragamo pumps.

Other stars shone on the red carpet, such as country star Carrie Underwood, who looked resplendent in a white, iridescent long-sleeve backless gown by Gomez-Gracia and Jimmy Choo platform sandals.

Katy Perry took it up a notch in electric blue hair, an ice-blue gown with flecks of sparkle by Elie Saab and shoes by Christian Louboutin.

Alicia Keys, who was there to perform “Sunday Kind of Love” (a tribute to Etta James) with Bonnie Raitt, rocked an Alexandre Vauthier dress with the same elegant Christian Louboutin heels sported by Rihanna.

Jennifer Hudson, who performed “I Will Always Love You” in a heartfelt tribute to Whitney Houston, commanded presence on the stage with her Alexander McQueen dress and Casadei embellished pumps.

Meanwhile, the usual suspects in the controversial wardrobe arena included Fergie, who was shod in an orange lace cut-out Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture gown, black underwear and Walter Steiger pumps.

Lady Gaga, who attended the ceremony but did not walk the red carpet, wore a custom Versace ensemble that included a fishnet stocking for a face mask.
