Robert Verdi’s Good Taste

As a celebrity stylist, Robert Verdi doesn’t take fashion lightly. “What I do is bigger than picking out a dress,” said the fashion expert, who counts Eva Longoria, Kathy Griffin, Hugh Jackman and Terrence Howard as clients. And accessories, Verdi added, are his favorite tools when dressing himself, which is not a big surprise given that the style guru recently launched his own line of sunglasses on HSN. “I have great jewelry, amazing bags and fabulous shoes,” he said. “I am an equal-opportunity hoarder. I like what accessories do to a wardrobe. It personalizes it and gives it a twist.” When it comes to his shoe closet, Verdi goes for such modern classics as metallic brogues, spectators that look like spats and styles with embellishments. In fact, he owns 15 pairs of Christian Louboutins. “I’m the gay Carrie Bradshaw. I buy shoes to make people jealous,” said the stylist, whose New York-based company, Robert Verdi Inc., provides creative services for the interior-design and event-planning worlds. In the future, he said, his HSN venture could include a line of footwear. “It would be fashion-forward and affordable. Fashion should be available to everyone.”
