Inside Angela Yee’s Closet

Angela Yee doesn’t pay lip service when it comes to talking about shoes.

The New York-based radio host has a passion for high-end stilettos and doesn’t mind giving her take on her extravagant shoe collection. “Some people think it’s a waste of money,” Yee said. “But I think if shoes look good and make a woman feel great, then they’re worth the investment.”

One of the hosts of Power 105.1 FM New York’s “Breakfast Club” morning show, Yee is a regular mistress of ceremonies for (and shoe donator to) Dress for Success, a nonprofit organization that provides business attire for disadvantaged women.

And Yee said the right outfit always starts from the bottom up. “I always feel like you can get away with wearing anything you like if you have a nice pair of shoes,” she said. “If you wear jeans and a T-shirt, but have on a great pair of shoes, it just pulls the whole outfit together.”

Pairs owned: more than 300

Brands represented: Charlotte Olympia, Christian Louboutin, Fendi, Giuseppe Zanotti, Walter Steiger

Looks for: “Anything with a really tall heel. I like to experiment with brands that people aren’t aware of, too. I don’t like to go for what everyone else is buying.”

Most paid: $2,400 for Louboutin thigh-high boots. “I haven’t worn them in a while, but I’ll keep them forever. I normally don’t spend that much on shoes, but I think they were a good investment.”

Best for the gym: “I’ve been taking boxing classes lately, and I really like wearing Under Armour. They’re pretty fashionable and fit really well. I have six pairs.”

Favorite places to shop: “I’m a mall girl. I love Short Hills Mall in New Jersey, Bal Harbour in Miami and Lennox Mall in Atlanta. When I’m L.A., I like the Beverly Center or Rodeo Drive. In New York, I also shop places like Intermix or department stores like Saks Fifth Avenue, Bergdorf Goodman and Barneys.”

Go-to pairs: “I just got these Ruthie Davis shoes that glow in the dark. I’ve been wearing those a lot. I also have these green-and gold-python Jimmy Choo wedges that I wear all the time. There’s a pair of Casadei heels in nude that blends in with my skin [that] I like because they make my legs look longer and I can wear them with anything.”

Least favorite shoe trend: “I hate kitten heels. I feel like you have to wear either flats or a tall heel. You can’t be in between.”
