Designer Maloles Antignac calls France home, but she looked to Brazil to inspire her spring ’13 footwear collection. The Maloles flats, pumps, wedges and sandals incorporate some obvious references to South America, such as fruit patterns and pineapple-shaped heels, as well as more subtle touches, including citrus colors, snake prints juxtaposed with florals and glitter-and-gold styles that pay homage to Brazil’s vibrant Carnival festival. The variety of constructions and heel heights for the season is part of an ongoing expansion for the label, which started as a ballet-flat brand in 2004. In the U.S., Maloles’ spring collection, which retails from $250 to $430, will be available at Bergdorf Goodman, Barneys New York and Endless.com, as well as Shoe in Reno, Nevada, and Truckee, California.
