Marc Jacobs was seeing double for spring. Pairs of sharply dressed ladies — often wearing checks from head to toe — descended from four towering escalators to walk the sunny checkerboard runway at Louis Vuitton on Wednesday. And all of them were clad in exaggerated pointy-toe pumps with a tailored bow and low plank-like heel. The graphic silhouettes were reminiscent of the 1960s, but thanks to the lean lines of the checkerboard pumps, the effect was wholly modern (with maybe a wink at Dr. Seuss). All in all, Jacobs clearly knows how to make his point.
