Paris Shoe of the Day: Balenciaga

Balenciaga rarely fails to tread new ground with fresh, directional accessories on the catwalk, and fall ’12 was no different. Its offering of footwear managed to be both avant-garde and wearable. Not surprisingly, in the hands of shoe designer Pierre Hardy, together with creative director Nicolas Ghesquiere, the runway collection was a look into the future, which in their imagining is replete with feminine-yet-cool single-sole pumps and ankle boots, and chunkier, colorful mid-wedge heels. This V-cut crocodile pump with ribbon corset was the best of the bunch — rich and classy with a modern edge.
