Haute Couture Trend: White

From sheer slingback pumps with transparent heels at Christian Dior to dainty lace appliqués on menswear-cut pumps at Valentino, haute couture designers have embraced the white-on-white trend for spring ’12. Both Jean Paul Gaultier and Stephane Rolland presented platform T-strap sandals with gold details — and structured dresses in various shades of white. Meanwhile, Givenchy and Elie Saab lightened things up with single-soled sandals that featured the season’s all-important ankle straps. At Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld kept things ultra-feminine — and modern — for the footwear: Ladylike satin pumps featured multiple ankle straps.
