An early morning shooting in New York on Friday had 34th Street retailers without customers. The event, which took place in the area of the Empire State Building, resulted in the closing of the highly trafficked shopping district between Fifth and Sixth avenues for several hours.
According to Aldo manager Joanne Bonocare, the street was closed to pedestrians and traffic from about 10 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. However, she added, as soon as the street reopened, shoppers began filling the store.
The store manager at Steve Madden noted people were anxious to continue their shopping despite the street closure.
Among the other shoe retailers in the area are Geox and Aerosoles.
