Finish Line Inc. is beefing up its executive ranks — a move the company said is in keeping with its aggressive growth strategy.
The Indianapolis-based athletic retailer announced earlier this month that Greg Beidler has been named SVP of store operations, and Jeffrey Sherry to the post of VP of business development and corporate strategy. Both are new positions.
“With these hires, we want to continue to build on our core competencies and [will seek] to develop new business opportunities,” said a Finish Line spokesperson. “These new hires complement that plan nicely.”
Beidler, who’s been in the retail sector for over 20 years, will be responsible for helping to execute Finish Line’s omnichannel initiatives. He was most recently regional operations director for Sam’s Club/Wal-Mart Corp. and has served in management roles for GameStop, Brown Shoe Co., Circuit City and The Athlete’s Foot.
Sherry, who joins Finish Line from investment bank Stifel Nicolaus Weisel, has extensive experience in mergers, acquisitions and financing transactions in the soft- and hardlines retail sectors. He was most recently director of the firm’s consumer and retail investment banking group.
Additionally, Amber Vanes, who has been with Finish Line for seven years, was promoted to VP of planning and allocation. Previously, she served as senior buyer and DMM for The Running Specialty Group, which was acquired last year. In her new role, Vanes will develop financial and merchandising strategies for the Finish Line chain.
