NY Runway Trend: Yin & Yang

Few color combinations are as effortlessly chic as the black-and-white chiaroscuro, and designers in New York are certainly courting this classic look for fall. Winter white and basic black have come together in fun prints such as Thakoon’s printed lace ankle boots with a cowboy twang, Chris Benz’s abstract painterly printed wedges and Kate Spade’s zebra pumps. Meanwhile Lela Rose opted for a modern herringbone in her wooden platform Mary Janes, and Alice & Olivia jazzed up sculpted slingback wedges with a chunky silhouette. Ditto that treatment on an oxford lace-up ankle boot at DKNY, grounded on a chunky heel similar to that shown on the Derek Lam catwalk. Marc Jacobs also contrasted shades to eye-catching effect, setting snowy white mid-calf boots with a rear corset on a rubber wedge.
