NY Runway Trend: Shine On

Designers were feeling decidedly optimistic for fall ’11, showing evening styles that exuded plenty of glitz and glamour. Michael Kors and Halston both paired chunky-heeled futuristic metallic sandals with sparkling evening dresses. Halston’s version featured blind-like silver panels in a wide T-strap, while Kors opted for an embellished heel treatment. Cynthia Rowley and Jill Stuart took an ultra-feminine approach with a tri-color metallic sandal with trumpet bow and a bronze ankle-strap pump, respectively, to complement their sleek evening frocks. Oscar de la Renta and Tracy Reese showed themselves to be classicists in the evening department: A glittering gunmetal T-strap pointy toe pump lit up the catwalk at Tracy Reese, while silver velvet pumps gleamed underneath a beaded column gown at de la Renta.
