Milan Shoe of the Day: Gianfranco Ferre

What’s old is new again for fall ’11. Gianfranco Ferre infused fresh styling and a bit of rock ‘n’ roll attitude into classic silhouettes for today’s runway outing. The pointy toe made a resounding comeback, with single-soled classic pumps and ankle booties accompanying everything from chic daywear suiting to three-quarter-length sequined cocktail shifts. Silver metallic “specchio” pumps and nude and black color-blocked mid-calf boots were paired with cigarette pants and fur toppers or pencil skirts to round out the collection, but the ankle booties really stole the show. Embodying the move toward clean lines and grown-up sophistication — but with a modern edge — these black-and-white ankle booties were a runway hit.
