Denim is popping up in the most unlikely places for spring ’12. Luxury designers embraced the casual material for everything from espadrille wedges at Roger Vivier to classic slingback pumps with embossed leather platforms at Jimmy Choo. While the jeans craze is hitting high-end footwear, designer Bruno Frisoni said the material is one of his favorites. “The first Bruno Frisoni collection I ever made was denim,” he said. “It was perfect for this season [at Roger Vivier] because we were missing a casual.” Contrast stitching added interest to Sergio Rossi’s ankle-strap peep-toes and Rupert Sanderson’s cork platform sandals, while Jerome Rousseau opted for a lighter wash and leather trim for his curlicue-strap sandals.
