On the heels of New York Fashion Week, retailers headed to the Capsule show this week in New York, to hunt for their spring ’12 inventory. Here, buyers from three top boutiques weigh in on the hottest trends and brands straight from the show floor.

Favorite trend: Florals. “We’re seeing a lot of printed [styles] we like. We’re also seeing a shift from statement fashion pieces to shoes that are more comfortable.”
Hot brand: Mark McNairy
Buying strategy: “It’s hard to say [whether we’ll be buying more than last year]. It depends on what we see.”

Favorite trends: Unique shapes, brighter colors
Hot brand: Tom Gunn
Buying strategy: “I’m buying about the same, or a little bit more than last year. Retail has always been an up-and-down business, so it’s hard to predict how the economy will [impact things].”

Favorite trend: Native American-inspired prints
Hot brand: Soludos
Buying strategy: “I’m probably buying less than last year. Before I would just pick up whatever I wanted, but now I’m trying to stick to buying just what I need.”
