Marc Fisher Plans Sigerson Morrison Revamp

On the heels of Monday’s news that Sigerson Morrison founders Kari Sigerson and Miranda Morrison were parting ways with parent company Marc Fisher Footwear, executives at the Greenwich, Conn.-based firm said plans are under way to revamp the brand.
“We’re moving forward,” said Susan Itzkowitz, president at Marc Fisher. “We have a new and expanded design team and are really excited about some of the ideas we have in place for the Sigerson Morrison and Belle by Sigerson Morrison lines.”
Itzkowitz declined to comment on what prompted Sigerson and Morrison to depart, but said Marc Fisher, which acquired their brand in 2006, is seeking to “bring a fresh air to the line.” And while she wouldn’t discuss specific plans for the label, Itzkowitz said the company is looking at adjusting price points.
The design duo parted ways with Marc Fisher on March 15, said Morrison when reached by Footwear News on Monday. Their last collection under the Sigerson Morrison label will be the fall ’11 line. She would not discuss details about the departure.
Sigerson and Morrison established their core line in 1991 and launched the diffusion collection, Belle by Sigerson Morrison, in 2004. They are currently hunting for new business opportunities within the fashion and footwear industries, Morrison said, and will continue to work as a team.
“We’re talking to a lot of different people, and [whatever we do], it will almost certainly involve shoes and us sticking together,” she said. “It’s all very new.”
