Sports Authority Taps CIO
Englewood. Colo.-based Sports Authority has named Fred Argir as the new SVP and chief information officer. According to the company, his duties will include optimizing customer service and implementing best practices. Prior to joining the retail chain, Argir was VP of supply chain at Target Corp.

Gold to Build Eastland Biz
In a move to grow its men’s business, Eastland Shoe Corp., based in Freeport, Maine, has appointed Marc Gold as director of business development. In his new role, he will be responsible for expanding distribution of Eastland’s men’s brands by working closely with Steve Maier, recently promoted to national sales manager. Gold also will be responsible for major accounts in the New York and New England regions. 

Jones Names Design SVP
The Jones Group Inc. has promoted Ninive Giordano to the post of SVP of design and product development for Nine West footwear. A seven-year veteran of the company, Giordano has worked for the past three years on the brand’s wholesale division.  

Dougherty Joins Dansko
Dansko, based in West Grove, Pa., has named Jeff Dougherty as VP of sourcing, effective May 2. He replaces Jack Esser, who is retiring in July. Most recently, Dougherty was VP and GM of Kenneth Cole Productions Inc. in China.
