Couture: Show Toppers

Designers went distinctly modern for their fall ’10 couture collections, showing bold platform and stiletto looks geared toward the younger set. Giorgio Armani was the exception to that rule, as he referenced Hollywood’s golden era with pointy toe ankle-strap pumps. John Galliano illustrated his visionary power at Christian Dior with bright-colored platform sandals that supported his floral theme. Karl Lagerfeld showed perhaps the most intriguing footwear at Chanel, where slim, slouchy boots looked ladylike when paired with beaded evening looks. Here, FN’s top picks from the couture collections.
