Readers’ Choice: Story of 2010

Question: What was the story of the year?

Throughout the year, execs watched headlines as major indicators such as unemployment and the Consumer Confidence Index gradually improved, prompting cautious optimism throughout the industry. And indeed, most public footwear firms registered significant earnings bumps during the year, aided both by favorable annual comparisons and steady comp-store increases.
