Music and rock ’n’ roll were natural choices for the spotlight in John Varvatos’ 10-year anniversary campaign for fall. While the designer is well known for his use of icons, the new advertisements feature a fresh spin, incorporating 39 of Varvatos’ favorite musicians and friends. “Because music has always been my passion and a constant source of inspiration, it has afforded us the privilege to build relationships with some of my favorite artists,” said Varvatos. “And when celebrating, wouldn’t you want to celebrate with your friends and family?” The ads will be showcased in store windows as well as in print ads and outdoor advertising running through October.
Calling on Inspiration
Cole Haan is turning to everyday people for its fall campaign, from musicians to photographers to a vintage storeowner. Shot by Todd Selby, “The Inspired Life” campaign is a continued theme from spring, featuring individuals from Brooklyn, N.Y., and Portland, Ore. in their natural workspaces. The advertisements will run online and in print, and in additional in-store placements and direct mail.
Relax Your Mind
Enter a wildlife sanctuary in the fall advertising campaign from Salvatore Ferragamo. Shot by Bruce Weber, models are featured on estates and in the rich pine forests between Florida and Georgia. The ads are designed to evoke a feeling of relaxation in the calm of nature, and the collections range from footwear to handbags, eyewear and timepieces.
