Alan Cohen, co-founder of Indianapolis-based athletic chain Finish Line Inc., will retire from his position as chairman of the board at the company’s July 22 annual meeting. He will be succeeded by Finish Line CEO Glenn Lyon.
Cohen, who has been in the athletic business since 1976, when he co-founded Finish Line predecessor Athletic Enterprises Inc. He served as Finish Line’s chairman, president and CEO from 1982 until 2003, and as chairman and CEO until 2008, when Lyon was appointed to the CEO position.
“It’s been 34 years since I co-founded our first athletic specialty store, and I have had a wonderful experience building and growing this company,” Cohen said in a release. “Under the guidance of the board, the company’s management team and talented associates, led by Glenn Lyon, have done an outstanding job in helping to take The Finish Line to where it is today. As I take time to pursue my personal interests, I have great confidence that this team will help ensure the company’s continued success.
