Asics America Corp. announced last week it would acquire Quebec-based Agence Quebec Plus Ltd., its North America distributor, on Aug. 31. Terms of the deal were disclosed.
Denis Custeau, president and GM of Agence Quebec, will remain in his current role at the company, and the sales force will continue to operate as independent contractors.
For Asics America President Rich Bourne, the decision to buy the distributorship was a natural one. “AGP has had a long history of distributing Asics in Canada, and it’s only logical that Asics America Corp. purchases them,” he said in a statement. “The goal is to continue to successfully run and operate the Canadian business as has been done for the last 30 years.”
According to Asics, Agence Quebec generates $48 million in annual sales.
