Wolverine World Wide announced on Friday it had promoted current SVP James Zwiers as president of the company’s outdoor group, which includes the Merrell, Chaco and Patagonia brands.
Zwiers, in addition to his new duties, will oversee the company’s retail group, as he did in his previous position, with an emphasis on building stronger consumer connections.
According to a company spokeswoman, the organizational change is part of a larger investment in the outdoor group, allowing the former group president and current Merrell President Scott Sible to focus his attention on the growth of the Merrell label.
“With Merrell being such a jewel in the Wolverine crown … we felt we needed to make sure we had [Sible’s] talent and attention on the most important brand in the outdoor group,” said the spokeswoman. “What Jim brings to the party is a broader experience having worked in many different areas of Wolverine.”
