Under Armour has teamed with a Hall of Famer.
The Baltimore-based athletic and apparel firm said Wednesday it was partnering with Oriole legend Cal Ripken Jr. in a five-year agreement that includes outfitting Maryland’s minor-league baseball team, the Aberdeen IronBirds, in Under Armour uniforms and cleats.
The company also will dress 10 domestic teams taking part in the Cal Ripken World Series this summer and will be the title sponsor for 25 Ripken youth baseball tournaments, in which 35,000 players participate each year.
The agreement brings two-fold benefits for Under Armour and Ripken Baseball, the Baltimore-based marketing company headed by the retired Oriole. Under Armor will publicize training videos by Ripken and his brother, former Major League Baseball infielder Bill Ripken, on its Website, and Ripken Baseball will play a role in the annual Under Armour All-America Baseball Game.
