Skechers USA Inc. is dressing up its children’s business with a new clothing initiative.
The Manhattan Beach, Calif.-based company today announced it had signed a licensing agreement with Adjmi Apparel Group to produce and market a Skechers Kids-branded apparel line, slated to debut for fall. The line will include apparel for boys in sizes from 12 months to size 7 and for girls in sizes 12 months to size 16.
Sam Poser, an analyst at Sterne, Agee & Leach, said the move makes sense because Skechers’ children’s business has been successful even during the recent retail downturn. “They feel they have a very strong niche in that market, and they think they can hit it,” he said. “Their kids’ business has been strong even throughout this tough year.”
The line will be sold at department stores, specialty children’s accounts and online outlets that carry the Skechers Kids footwear collection.
