When Michelle Obama stepped out on inauguration day in that yellow Isabel Toledo suit, she set the tone for her fashion style: a blend of high and low that embraces young talent and isn’t afraid to take chances. Since then, she has made Toledo and other young designers into household names and given new credibility to mass-merchant brands such as H&M and J.Crew. But while the first lady was the clear winner in FN’s reader survey, voters said other celebrities have been making waves as well, including Lady Gaga and her theatrical attire, the curvaceous Beyoncé, supermodel Kate Moss and stage-and-screen stars Fergie and Miley Cyrus.
