Kibardin Gets New Gig

Luxury shoe designer Max Kibardin was tapped last week for the top creative post at Lorenzo Banfi.

The Milan, Italy-based firm appointed Kibardin as creative director. He will oversee the full collections of men’s and women’s footwear beginning with the fall ’09 season. “I am glad I can work on the new collections to shape the future of a brand that produces real objects of desire [and] targets customers who can understand and appreciate fine, luxury and timeless accessories,” Kibardin said
in a statement.

Kibardin, who started his career in fashion as a model for Chanel, is creating 60 styles for Lorenzo Banfi ’s women’s collection, which is typically priced between $400 and $1,400 at highend retailers in 24 countries. A recipient of Footwear News’ 2007 Vivian Infantino Emerging Talent award, Kibardin worked with Bologna, Italy-based Furla as a design consultant for fall ’08 and spring ’09 and continues to design his own line.
