Japan Gore-Tex Now Subsidiary of W.L. Gore

Japan Gore-Tex Inc. and W.L. Gore & Associates, the producers of Gore-Tex, Windstopper, Gore Bike Wear and Gore Running Wear, announced that JGI has become a wholly owned subsidiary of Gore.

JGI was founded in 1974 as a joint-venture company with the goal of building upon Gore’s expanded polytetrafluoroethylene technology in Japan. Over time, it has grown as a contributor to the Gore group, building businesses in Japan and adding to Gore’s portfolio of intellectual properties.

According to a statement issued by the companies, Gore and JGI saw benefits in more completely integrating JGI in Gore’s global operations, particularly as Gore’s business has become more international.
