Celebrated stylist Patricia Field weighed in on a wide range of topics — from how she got her start in fashion to the “Sex and the City” phenomenon — during last Wednesday’s opening night address at the Footwear News CEO Summit.
The lively presentations continued on Thursday morning when Deckers Outdoor Corp. chief Angel Martinez discussed opportunities and challenges in a dramatically changing landscape. Two power-packed panels addressed the hot-button issues in today’s challenging economy, while Diesel U.S. head Steve Birkhold spoke about his brand’s big growth plans for footwear, and Genesco Retail CEO Jim Estepa talked about catering to the fickle teen consumer.
One of the biggest highlights of the day came when Elyse Kroll, founder and chairwoman of ENK, which owns the WSA Show, and FFANY President Joe Moore teamed up for the first time for a candid conversation about the future of trade shows.
